Ben & Cocoa Take An Elfie

Happy New Year, my scrappy friends! I hope your Christmas was full of love, laughter, and wonderful memories. We were very fortunate to have our entire family home for the holidays this year! A rare treat, and we enjoyed every moment together. Christmas is extra special when you have a family member who still believes in Santa. It makes every day special and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day magical! Our youngest Grandson still believes in Santa Claus and the magic of his Elf on a Shelf, Cocoa. This year, my daughter took a cute picture of the two just before Christmas. Ben was so excited to count down the days as Christmas approached.

I dug deep into my patterned paper stash to find this background paper from 3bugsinarug, entitled Reindeer Games. Peartree Cutfiles had the perfect cut file to document this special picture. The Take An Elfie cut file contains two cut files: the title and the elf with a camera. I chose to back the elf and the camera with multiple coloured cardstock pieces, used vellum for the camera lens, and the Holographic 2.0 paper from Lawn Fawn for the camera’s flash. I find working with small paper pieces like the eyes in the elf quite tedious, so I opted to use Concord & 9th’s black enamel dots instead. Next, I backed the Take An Elfie title with patterned paper from BoBunny entitled Mistletoe. This patterned paper has also been in my Christmas collection for several years.

To complete the layout, I adhered the two cut files on either side of the picture. The elf and the camera were adhered using double-sided adhesive foam tape. I did not adhere the foam tape to the back of the vellum lens. I used Doodlebug Designs Black Alphabet Soup Puffy Stickers to add the names and date to the layout. And finally, I added some gold accents to the page using Vicki Boutin’s Thickers from her Print Shop and Warm Wishes collections.

Soak Up The Sun

My granddaughter, Madison, had a wish for her birthday. She wanted to be in the sun, in shorts, on her birthday. Now that her family lives overseas, a quick trip to Spain was quite doable. As you can see from the picture, she got her birthday wish! Now I won’t lead you to believe that the water was warm at the time, but nothing was stopping this girl from thoroughly enjoying the sun, sand and surf!

I used the Summer Lights patterned paper from Cocoa Vanilla Sudio’s Sunkissed collection for the background of this layout. It reminded me of the bright sunny days and beautiful sunsets on the Costa Del Sol. The title cut file, Soak Up the Sun, comes from Just Nick and is now, sadly, unavailable as she has shut down her shop on Shopify. Fingers crossed she will bring it back one day! I backed this cut file with coordinating patterned papers from Lawn Fawn’s Watercolor Wishes Rainbow collection. I liked how it mirrored the changing hues in the background paper.

Just Nick also created the cut file for the Layered Waves at the bottom of the layout. I wanted these waves to look as realistic as possible. I used the backside of the Tropical Paradise patterned paper from Reminisce’s Caribbean Cruise Kit to achieve this look. To add more depth to the waves, they were each outlined in coordinating blue ink. I adhered the bottom wave directly to the page and backed the top two layers with foam to replicate wave action. The tri-coloured small crystals of water droplets were splattered around the waves to enhance the feel of the waves even further. They are a product called Baby Tear Drops from The Robin’s Nest Creative team.

Some final details to complete this layout included adding beautiful crystals to the sun in the cut file. They are from an older set of embellishments from Prima Marketing called Say it in Crystals. The Happy Life, foam letter stickers, were used to identify the location of the picture and the date.

‘Tis the Season to Sparkle

Christmas keeps popping back onto my scrapping desk! I fell in love with this beautiful photo of my granddaughter with the Christmas lights in the background. She was with her family as they took a walk through Victoria Park after dark to enjoy all the beautiful Christmas lights and displays. It was a fun evening that I wanted to document for her scrapbook.

This layout came together quite quickly. Peartree Cutfiles, Tis the Season to Sparkle, cut file seemed like the perfect fit for the dazzling Christmas lights in the photo. I chose to cut it quite large for this layout to emphasize this point.

The paper in this layout comes from the equally named Tis the Season paper collection by Pretty Little Studio. Specifically, I used the Jack Frost paper for the layout background and Tidings – Red paper to back the words.

All of the stars found in the title were cut from Lawn Fawn‘s Holographic 2.0 paper. They were added to the layout using small foam dots to provide dimension and emphasis.

All the ephemera used to complete the layout belongs to the Tis the Season collection. The gorgeous tree limbs, holly and pinecone came from the Holiday Greenery Die-Cuts sold with this collection.
